Katsina State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Abubakar Yahya Kusada emerged as the new speaker on 15th February 2017. His emergence, was regarded as peaceful, where 23 out of the 34 members of the House voted to remove Aliyu Sabi’u Muduru from office.
It took about three months of underground politickings and maneuvers to garner the required two-third majority to oust out Muduru as Speaker.
After Kusada's inauguration, he instantly promised to carry all members a long and describe his emergence as a great surprise and God making.
According his Senior Special Assistant on media, Abdulrashid Nuhu Yashe, who described the Speaker as humble, gentle and a religious person.
The SSA further stated that "The Speaker brought many positives to the State Assembly in terms of unity and understanding among staff and the house members".
"He sacrifice large part of his benefits to employ aides, which we hardly experience from other office holders." He said.
