This morning being the second day of the new year, I came across the most irritating update which I intend to make my yardstick for measuring personal efforts by individuals to clinch the trophy for 'reverse intelligent quotient'.

The update under review was a serious 'intellectual' effort to determine the genuineness of Shekau's flag presented by Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Buratai to Commander-in-Chief and President of Federal Republic Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari. Nothing could be funnier!
To begin, this is an affair strictly between two successful Chiefs - the Chief of Army Staff and his Commander-in-Chief. Ordinarily I will assume these 'critics' (especially those with nil background in military affairs) would be cautious when dabbling with military affairs for fear of highlighting their ignorance rather than highlighting perceived 'mischiefs' against Nigerians by the Army just to score cheap points. It's obvious though, that the objective was to denigrate President Buhari and the Nigerian Army using the Heroic feat achieved by the Army in which they flushed Boko Haram out of the dreaded Sambisa forest. Dogs always bite no matter what they are fed!
I would have taken most of these emergency 'security experts' serious if just a few months ago they were not exhibiting cowardly attitude towards the war against Boko Haram. To these 'critics', Sambisa forest was hitherto, a place to be avoided no matter what, even on a map. For the period BH reigned supreme most of them could not even 'like' status updates or comments carrying the names of Boko Haram or Shekau for fear of inviting the wrath of both. Today BH/Shekau are topics for intellectual exercise thanks to Gen. Buratai.
Today, Boko Haram is decimated, subdued, humbled and reverted back to its early containable street status by the efforts of real MEN of the Nigerian Army and the angry 'Bedroom Brigade' of the 'Cyber-Army' would have none of it. Guided by uncontrollable ambition to deny this administration credit for even touchable achievements, they would rather trade their intelligence on the floor of the social media for silent applause of an invisible online 'fans' that comes as they go.
The most 'intelligent' of this crazy crowd are those exhibiting the worse kind of abuse against their God-given intellect. They are so consumed by hatred against President Buhari that in their blind effort to distract and malign him, they are only succeeding in unleashing a brutal assault on themselves with irreversible results.
What could be worse than a 'Professor's' failure to grasp the significance of the symbolic gesture of the presentation of BH's flag to the President by COAS Buratai. Is it not absurd that somebody should just assume BH had only one flag and even went further to open an intellectual debate with the sole objective of trying to determine the genuineness of the presented paraphernalia?
Even more amazing, why should such a well established military tradition of spirit boosting gesture constitute a kind of 'going-to-Jupiter-on-bicycle' heavy mental task to understand it's simply symbolic? It's weird that somebody could just assume Nigeria is the only country in the world that ever experienced insurgency that its citizens should be assumed to lack the basic qualification to assess if the war is won or not. Going by the crazy logics of these 'critics', it won't be shocking if one bumps into an opinion that the American Navy Seals took the trouble of 'burying' Bin Laden in the ocean for fear he may resurrect and resurface in the Oval Office and detonate a 'nuclear bomb vest'. Peck it as hard and as fast as you wish. It's your brain and it's democracy!
Just for fun, I thought Nigeria Army under COAS Buratai have senior commanders of the BH safely caged, neutralized and of no danger whatsoever to the public that some people (read, 'WAILERS') could even sit outside their gates late into the night to compose and post status updates complete with 'selfies' even in places where previously the burst of a bicycle tyre could cause deadly pandemonium.
Why should a flag be such a contentious issue. This is like challenging the capacity of Mike Tyson to remove the globe of a knocked-out Lee Swaby while he was out cold on the canvas. Perhaps, all the sophisticated military hardware recovered in Sambisa forest are mere toy guns that should be donated to an amusement park for kids of the 'Wailers' to play with. Nigeria is an idea beyond human imagination. Going by the 'flag debate', I won't be surprised if by tomorrow somebody posit that the gallant officers who conquered Sambisa forest were downloaded from the Internet war game 'KILLVILLE' and sent to Sambisa by Gen. Buratai to fumigate the forest. 'Wailers' could be lower, I'm afraid!
Before we move back to 'KILLVILLE', let's ask these 'WAILERS' few questions to ascertain if we are reading from the same page. First, is Shekau real? Is Boko Haram real? Were the two ruling the N'East from Sambisa forest before President Buhari and COAS Buratai happen to Nigeria? Do people wet their pants at the mention of Shekau and BH previously and do they now?
So, let me hear somebody deny that BH and Shekau did not ran away from the excellent professional skills and superior fire power of the Nigeria Army in Sambisa forest. Let me hear somebody deny that the Army did not walk through Camp Zero and reduced it to a state of total absence and neutrality. Only then will I consider any silly debate about the insignificance of Shekau's flag or he symbolic gesture of the flag presentation to the President by the COAS. In the interim, my sincere advise to these robotic 'Wailers' is for them to stop ridiculing themselves by turning their brains into an archive for storing garbage.
