The complex nature of alliances and mergers among various political parties prelude to the 2015 general election was the architect of the political slogan SAK, meaning "the same".
The prior independent political parties such as the ACN, CPC and some part of the PDP merged together to form what is today referred to All Progressive Congress APC, all in an effort to oust the Jonathan PDP led government. The circumstances surrounding the merger brought credible individuals and those with dubious and questionable characters into the fold of APC, the party whose posture is more of a gentlemen's party, and people with no or less record of maleficents. As the election campaign intensified, the only way most of these breakaway PDP, ACN and CPC former members can get elected is to use the political slogan SAK under the banner of new formed APC. This will allow members from president downward get elected without recourse to their past antecedents. Nigerians were convinced by the pioneers of the SAK slogan, especially the then APC presidential flag bearer Gen Muhammadu Buhari Rtd, to vote enmass for the APC, a circumstances which brings even those whose credibility is not enough to get elected into any political office. This SAK political slogan in its entirety helped in allowing those political bigwigs from parties other than CPC who have an array of massive supporters and those with low political profile to easily clinched into power, to be led by APC, and this was considered as the only means to which APC a new party can get majority seats in states, the national and states assemblies and even at the presidential level.
Unfortunately, what we are witnessesing today is a breakaway from the expectation of the teaming Nigerians though prior analysis indicates that, the result of marriage of inconvenience will be nothing less than what is on ground today. The SAK political slogan brought people that cannot even withstand being a local government chairmen into higher political offices, it brought people that are supposed to be in jail serving their punishment for one misdeed and another, it brought people with less sympathy for the cause of a common man, people with no leadership character, less focus, and anti-development, it brought people with little knowledge of the Nigerian political spectrum, people that are politically violent and have no respect for the institutions to which they are representing, and can go to the length of creating friction and division among individuals and institutions of government, it brought people that are no respecters of the law, who can ridicule Constitutional provisions and other Acts guiding official and individual conducts, people with highest level of irresponsibility, rascality and so on.
Consequently, the yearning and aspirations of the teaming Nigerians for a better life were not met, things have continue to be the same way, to some extent even worse than the way they where when the last PDP government was in power. Nigerians were beginning to loose hope with the way the SAK politicians are governing them. To the belief of many and the evidence on ground, the necessary devidence of democracy were not delivered, from the development of infrastructure, security of lives and properties, massive employment generation both in the formal and informal sectors, to the dwindling economy and its recovery plan, both were at their lowest phase of deliverance. Though not ruling out the possibility that things will in the near future change for the best, the untold hardship caused by economic recession, with massive increased in the prices of commodities such as rice, maize, sugar, millet, wheat, sorghum and so on, made Nigerians continued to believed that the SAK politicians are just the appendage or a replica of the former Jonathan administration which was vehemently rejected by Nigerians, and characterised the worse democratic government in the Nigerian history. The attendant public outcry both from the Nigerian teaming masses, the working class and the business men made the situation look horrendous and insurmountable. Astonishingly, today Nigerians have boldly began to take steps to show their grievances against the SAK politicians, from the mere using media outlets, using verbal and written words, people have now resort to physically attacking the SAK politicians that they felt are not doing enough to help address challenges confronting them. This really is a bad omen, a disgrace and a big slap on the face of the proponents of SAK political slogan, whose aim was to bring in people with the same ideology as that of Mr President into the corridors of political power, to help Nigerians out of the most-complaint myriads of challenges, and to change the way of doing government business including removing the negative image of Nigeria among the comity of nations.
The unfolding and unfortunate incidences involving masses resorting to beating, stone hauling, assassination attempts and recalling is a wake up call for our political office holders, they must begin to give credense to the constituents interest and welfare, they must note that the idea of getting them elected to various political offices is for a selfless services, not arrogance, impunity, rascality and ineptitude, they must cooperate with whoever, in whatever level to help change Nigeria to a better country through positive policies initiation, approval and execution. The SAK political slogan must end with the 2015 general election and the aftermath. Forthwith, electing people into political offices must be based on their credibility, using competence, positive image in society, agility, trust and so on. It is only when we Nigerians do away with ethnic, tribal, religion, sectional and kins affiliation to politics that we would meet our expectations in the way our political life should be directed. The forthcoming 2019 general election shall serve as a testing period where Nigerians will butress their resolve to elect their political representatives based on credibility not the 2015 SAK. Until then, Nigerians shall continue using lawful means to demand their share of democratic devidence from the President, the Governor's, the National and State Legislatures, Local Government Chairmen and Councillors. The path to violent agitations does not and will never pay, let the agitation be peaceful, lawful and logical, 2019 exit awaits those in corridors of power who refused to inculcate good governance and do the right thing, their return to political scenes might be a mirage, left to Nigerians to decide.
