Bishop Kukah was out with an essay of close to 5000 words trying to explain his role in the recent reconciliation of Obasanjo and Atiku. People may opine that, had Bishop Kukah deployed his conflict resolution skills swiftly in resolving the leadership crisis that almost caused the shut-down of 163 parishes in Catholic Diocese of Ahiara in Imo State, Pope Francis wouldn’t have intervened in the local squabble of the Diocese despite his heavy schedule in the Vatican. Alas, he had to because Bishop Kukah was somewhere very busy trying to reconcile Obasanjo and Atiku. Yes, verbatim “he had been working on it intermittently in the last few years” within which Catholic Diocese Ahiara came and passed him by.

Before him Sheikh Gumi was out with an explanation that was as lengthy as it was incoherent on video. Later one of his close associates, Tukur Mamu followed it up with another audio explanation lengthy enough to make an excellent case for peace in Sultan Bello Mosque if not more than required to harmonise and make peaceful the entire Kaduna political family.
Bishop Oyedepo explained his “man of God” role in the reconciliation via social media blogs. Oyedepo is the funniest. He even forgot there were killings in Nigeria before Buhari. His “pains” were largely concentrated to blow life into a traditional lie woven around the complexity of Nigeria’s security imbroglio. With the same “smartness” he built from scratch a multi-billion dollar “religious business”, Oyedepo strived to paint an imaginary picture of a peaceful Nigeria inherited by Buhari which he (Buhari) promptly plunged into anarchy. To Oyedepo, Shekau was only a bad dream in which churches/mosques were bombed and worshipers blown to pieces without knowing why or by whom. His reality is a Nigeria bloodied by Buhari hence, the need to rescue it by reconciling “saviours” Obasanjo/Atiku.
I wonder what these guys are wasting quality time trying to explain after telling the world they were doing it for peace. People don’t write books to explain roles they played to achieve peace. Rather than explain what roles they played, it will be more comforting for the trio to try harmonising their definition of “peace” with our understanding of it. There’s certainly more to this “peace” than is healthy for Nigeria. What these guys did was nothing short of concentrating in one place negative forces that could potentially endanger, once again, the peace and harmony of Nigeria as they did before.
Thankfully the God they all claimed to be working for is ALL KNOWING and JUST. Quoting scriptures, twisting Sunnah and re-writing history to justify selfish predatory actions disguised as peace missions may pass Nigerians unnoticed but, the God we serve will never abandon Nigeria to the machination of cheats and frauds. No bank would refuse this as promissory note!
