Man rapes two female students in Ingawa, infects one with HIV

One Muddaha Dan Bala, 48, of Sabon Gari Quarters, Ingawa Local Government Area of Katsina State had been arraigned before magistrate’s court in Katsina for allegedly raping two female students and infecting one with HIV.

In report by Daily Trust, the police prosecuting officer, Inspector Kabir Mohammed, told the court that the suspect confronted the girls while on their way to school, lured them into an uncompleted building and had unlawful intercourse with them, even though he was aware of his HIV status.

He said one of the girls had been confirmed to have been infected with HIV as a result, wrhile the status of the second victim was yet to be ascertained.

It was gathered by our source that the matter was reported to the police by the principal of the school, and that the offence runs contrary to Section 283 of the penal code.

Dan Bala was not in court yesterday when the matter came up for mention as the police said he had been taken to hospital for ‘diagnosis’, and the presiding judge, Fadilla Dikko, directed that he be brought to the court by the police on January 24, 2017.
