Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the permanent forfeiture of the sum of $153 million, allegedly diverted from the coffers of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation by a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
On January 6, Justice Muslim Hassa ordered an interim forfeiture of the monies.
On Thursday, Justice Muslim said he was satisfied with the argument by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that the funds were proceeds of illegal activity. He therefore gave a “final forfeiture order” on the funds.
