Damaturu cordoned ahead of Buhari's visit

Security has been beefed up in Damaturu and its environs ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari's visit to Yobe state this morning.

Many armed security personnel deployed to strategic areas in the town, while others patrolling streets in hilux vans and armoured tanks.

The busy streets and highways in the town, especially Maiduguri road, where the presidents' aircraft would land has been blocked. Shops and businesses along the roads have also been shut down.

"You can see that all the roads are deserted, people did not come out because of overzealousness of our security operatives" a Damaturu resident said.
