President Buhari Gives ASUU N20bn To Freshen Public Universities

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the release of N20b so that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASSU) can revive public universities.

This was confirmed on Monday by Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance.

The news came as the minister was announcing the President’s approval for the “immediate release” of N22.68bn as part of retirement benefits of ex-workers of the Nigeria Airways Limited (in Liquidation).

“To ensure that these Presidential directives are duly implemented in line with extant Financial Rules, I have constituted a Committee to be headed by the Secretary of Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit (PICA), Dr. MK Dikwa (Mni),” she added.
