KATSINA NSCDC ARRESTS KEDCO STAFF FOR TRESPASS, METER TAMPERING, AND THEFT IN DAURA

The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), under the leadership of Commandant Aminu Datti Ahmad (FSF, MADM), continues to demonstrate its commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and socio-economic stability in the state.

In line with these efforts, the Command has apprehended Aliyu Muhammad, a 38-year-old staff member of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Prepaid Meter Unit, Daura Regional Office, for trespass, tampering with a prepaid meter, and theft. The incident occurred on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Tudun Wada Quarters, Daura Local Government Area.

The suspect unlawfully removed a prepaid meter from the residence of Alhaji Lawal Gadi. He was arrested by the surveillance team attached to the Daura Divisional Office, led by CSC Bashir Umar Fago, and transferred to the Command Headquarters for further investigation.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the crime, revealing that he had surveyed the area on Wednesday, January 15, before returning the following day to execute his plan. The stolen prepaid meter was recovered and is now in custody as evidence.

The Commandant emphasized that acts of vandalism, theft, and property tampering threaten the socio-economic fabric of society and will not be tolerated. The NSCDC remains vigilant, maintaining 24-hour surveillance to combat such crimes across Katsina State.

Commandant Ahmad thanked the public for their ongoing cooperation and urged them to provide actionable intelligence to security agencies to help uncover criminal activities. The Command remains steadfast in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents of Katsina State and Nigeria at large.
