Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to expanding access to clean, reliable, and sustainable energy across the state.

The Governor made this known today during an inspection visit to Kankia Local Government Area, where installation works for solar-powered streetlights are currently underway. 

The project, designed to enhance security, improve night-time commerce, and promote community safety, forms part of the administration’s broader renewable energy rollout under the Department of Power and Energy.

Representing the Department, Engr. Abdulaziz Kabir Abdullahi led the team that conducted the Governor through the installation process. The Governor expressed satisfaction with the quality and progress of the work, commending the Department of Power and Energy, the contractor Kalamu Wahid Engineering Limited, and the project consultant Engr. Abdullahi Bature for their professionalism and dedication.

Governor Radda emphasized that this initiative reflects his administration’s determination to ensure access to electricity and illumination in every community of Katsina State.

 He further disclosed that similar installations will be replicated across other local government areas, in line with the state’s drive to improve public infrastructure and enhance the safety and well-being of citizens.

“This project is not just about lighting our streets—it is about powering progress, promoting safety, and improving livelihoods,” the Governor stated.

The solar streetlight initiative is part of Katsina’s broader clean energy transition program, which integrates solar, wind, hydro, and gas-to-power solutions to reduce costs, cut emissions, and strengthen energy security across the state.

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has  launched the electronic Birth Registration (e-Birth Registration) Exercise in Katsina State, describing it as a historic milestone in the state’s efforts to ensure that every child is recognized, protected, and counted from birth.

The formal launch, held today at the Continental Event Centre in Katsina, brought together key national and state stakeholders, including the Chief Judge of Katsina State, Hon. Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar; the Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Kelsen Osifo Ojogun; representatives of UNICEF; the National Chairman and State Chairman of ALGON; representatives of the Emirs of Katsina and Daura; traditional and religious leaders; local government chairmen; and development partners.

In his remarks, Governor Radda said the e-Birth Registration initiative represents more than a ceremonial event, describing it as a decisive and transformative step toward ensuring that no child in Katsina State remains invisible—legally, socially, or statistically.

He emphasized that birth registration is the first legal recognition of a child’s identity and the foundation for accessing education, healthcare, social protection, and civic participation. “Without it,” he said, “a child exists in the shadows—vulnerable to exploitation, exclusion, and deprivation. For too long, millions of Nigerian children have grown up without this fundamental recognition. This is not just a systemic failure but a moral deficit we must correct.”

Governor Radda reaffirmed that under his administration, birth registration has become a key pillar of child protection and inclusive governance.

He announced that every Ward  and Village  across the 34 Local Government Areas of Katsina State will now serve as permanent Birth Registration Centres.

“This strategic decision embeds the registration process at the very heart of our communities, ensuring accessibility, cultural acceptance, and long-term sustainability,” he said.

The Governor further revealed that soon, birth certificates will be made mandatory for accessing essential government services such as education and healthcare.

“To parents, registering your child costs nothing but a few minutes of your time, yet it opens the door to a lifetime of rights and opportunities,” he said. “We are building a state where governance begins at birth, and justice begins with identity.”

He commended the Department of Girl Child Education and Child Development for its leadership; the National Population Commission for its technical expertise; ALGON for grassroots mobilization; and UNICEF for its steadfast partnership and provision of digital tools. “Together, you have laid the foundation for a birth registration system that is not only functional but transformative,” he added.

Governor Radda also called on traditional and religious leaders to champion the exercise and educate parents, while urging Local Government Chairmen to ensure that ward registrars are properly trained, equipped, and supervised.

To promote accountability and community participation, the Governor announced a competition among Local Governments and Wards, with recognition for the best-performing areas in the e-Birth Registration exercise.

In her welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Girl Child Education and Development, Jamila Abdu Mani, described the launch as a landmark in the history of child protection and governance in Katsina State. She praised Governor Radda’s visionary leadership and commitment to inclusive development, describing him as “a compassionate leader whose policies ensure that every child, boy or girl, is protected, educated, and given an identity from birth.”

She also paid tribute to the Governor’s royal heritage, linking his values of service and justice to the legacy of his grandfather, the late Emir Muhammad Dikko.

The Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr. Kelsen Osifo Ojogun, described the launch as a transformative milestone in Nigeria’s Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) modernization agenda, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope vision.

Dr. Ojogun highlighted the limitations of the old paper-based registration system and commended the new digital platform for offering secure, real-time, and tamper-proof data capture that integrates with national frameworks like NIMC and the banking sector.

He applauded Katsina State’s proactive collaboration and revealed that 361 ward-level registrars have been trained to ensure coverage across all communities. While acknowledging challenges such as network instability and infrastructure costs, he called for sustained cooperation through public-private partnerships.

Presenting the progress report, the Katsina State Director of the NPC Usman Saidu disclosed that the state has achieved remarkable progress in digital birth registration, increasing from 180,901 manually registered births in 2021 to over 566,000 digital registrations in 2025, marking full digitization.

He attributed the success to strong partnerships among the NPC, UNICEF, ALGON, and NIMC, with each registered child now automatically receiving a National Identification Number (NIN) or tracking ID.

In his goodwill message, the National Chairman of ALGON, Engr. Bello Lawal Kaita, described the initiative as one of the most important collaborations between local governments and development partners. He praised Governor Radda’s people-centered leadership and reaffirmed ALGON’s commitment to promoting good governance and accountability at the grassroots.

Speaking on behalf of UNICEF, Mr. Rahama Rihood Mohammed Farah, Chief Field Officer of the UNICEF Kano Field Office, commended Governor Radda for his leadership and commitment to children’s welfare. He said the launch reflects the success of a sustainable, community-driven model of birth registration and pledged UNICEF’s continued partnership to ensure that every child in Katsina is registered and recognized from birth.

Also speaking, the Katsina State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Muntari Tsagem, urged parents to take the exercise seriously, stressing that registering a child at birth secures their right to identity and access to future opportunities.

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to clean energy transition and sustainable development, positioning Katsina as a national model for renewable innovation and energy security.

Speaking at the Nigeria Energy Leadership Summit, West Africa’s largest and most prestigious energy event, held at the Landmark Convention Centre in Lagos, Governor Radda, represented by the Deputy Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe, delivered a special address titled “Building a Clean-Energy Future: Lessons from Katsina’s Solar, Wind, Hydro and CNG Projects.”

In his address, the Governor highlighted Katsina’s groundbreaking achievements in the renewable energy sector, disclosing that the state has approved and commenced the deployment of over 10 megawatts of solar photovoltaic systems with 10 megawatt-hours of battery storage across 11 key facilities, including universities, hospitals, polytechnics, waterworks, and the State House of Assembly.

“These projects are reducing energy costs, cutting emissions, and ensuring uninterrupted power for essential services such as healthcare, water supply, and education,” Governor Radda stated.

He further revealed the successful completion of a 1MW solar power installation at the Katsina State Secretariat, which now provides clean and stable electricity to government offices, boosting productivity and drastically reducing dependence on diesel-powered generators.

Governor Radda announced that Katsina is set to commission its first Liquefied and Compressed Natural Gas (LNG/CNG) facility, developed in partnership with Greenville LNG Limited, which is now over 90 percent complete.

“Once operational, this facility will support vehicle conversion to CNG and enable CNG-based power generation at significantly lower costs than diesel or petrol. It aligns perfectly with Nigeria’s Decade of Gas vision and represents another bold step toward cleaner, more affordable energy,” he said.

The Governor also emphasized Katsina’s pioneering role in wind energy, noting that the state is home to Nigeria’s first and only wind power project, the 10MW Lambar Rimi Wind Farm. He disclosed that discussions are ongoing with the Federal Government for its formal handover to the state, alongside its hybridization with an additional 10MW of solar capacity, creating one of West Africa’s first wind-solar hybrid systems.

“Once completed, it will stand as a symbol of innovation and sustainability, delivering cleaner, more reliable electricity to surrounding communities and industries,” he noted.

In partnership with the French Treasury and Oceans Énergie, the state is also implementing a 1MW mini-hydro project at Danja Dam, designed to provide electricity to rural communities, support irrigation schemes, and stimulate agro-industrial productivity.

Governor Radda further disclosed that 1.3MW of solar capacity with 1.3MWh of battery storage has already been deployed at the General Muhammadu Buhari Government House and General Hospital Katsina in partnership with Genesis Energy, further enhancing energy efficiency in governance and healthcare delivery.

In a landmark policy announcement, the Governor revealed plans to establish the Ministry of Power, Renewable Energy, and Energy Security, the first of its kind in Nigeria, to coordinate, regulate, and drive the state’s clean energy agenda.

“This pioneering ministry will consolidate our progress, strengthen coordination, and ensure that energy remains reliable, affordable, and accessible to every citizen,” he declared.

He also announced the state’s plan to establish a Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission in collaboration with neighbouring states to enhance regional grid stability, attract investors, and accelerate energy sector reforms.

The Governor added that his administration is deploying stand-alone solar systems to power micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises such as barbing salons, welding workshops, cold rooms, phone charging centres, and ICT hubs, thereby empowering entrepreneurs and boosting local economies.

He further highlighted Katsina’s collaboration with the governments of Kano and Jigawa through Future Energies Africa to develop a North-West Regional Electricity Market aimed at expanding off-grid access, improving energy security, and unlocking investment opportunities across the region.

“Our focus remains clear: to expand off-grid solar access across all local government areas, deepen rural electrification, and ensure every school, hospital, and water facility in Katsina operates on clean, dependable power,” he affirmed.

Governor Radda emphasized that energy security is the foundation of education, healthcare, and economic prosperity, noting that Katsina’s clean energy transition demonstrates what visionary leadership, political will, and strategic partnerships can achieve.

The Nigeria Energy Summit brought together the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu; Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; the Special Adviser to the Katsina State Governor on Power and Energy, Dr. Hafiz Ibrahim Ahmed; members of the diplomatic corps; industry leaders; and development partners.

Governor Radda Congratulates Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman on Appointment as New Vice Chancellor of Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA)

The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman on his appointment as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA).

Prof. Othman appointment was announced by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, His Excellency Ali Abubakar Jatau, following the 36th Special Meeting of the Council held at the Grand Amber Hotel and Suites, Dutse, Jigawa State.

Governor Radda described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Prof. Othman’s distinguished academic career and leadership record, noting that his vast experience as a scholar, researcher, and administrator will greatly benefit both the University and the wider education sector.

He commended the Governing Council for conducting a rigorous and transparent selection process, which saw Prof. Othman emerge from a pool of highly qualified candidates through merit and competence.

“Prof. Othman is a respected academic and an outstanding son of Katsina State whose contributions to agricultural research and higher education are widely acknowledged. His emergence as Vice Chancellor reflects excellence, integrity, and years of dedicated service,” the Governor said.

Governor Radda expressed confidence that under Prof. Othman’s leadership, FUDMA will witness stronger academic performance, improved research capacity, and deeper community engagement, in line with the University’s founding vision.

Prof. Othman, a proud son of Katsina State from Bindawa Local Government Area, is a renowned Agricultural Engineer and an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained his first, second, and third degrees. He has served in various capacities, including as Executive Director of the National Agricultural Extension Research and Liaison Services (NAERLS), ABU Zaria, and is currently a member of the FUDMA Governing Council representing the Senate.

Governor Radda assured the new Vice Chancellor of his administration’s continued support and collaboration with the University toward strengthening education, research, and innovation in the state.

The Katsina State Government has once again reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment, innovation, and industrial growth under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda. 

The Governor has approved a specialized technical training programme for mechanics of the Central Mechanical Workshop at the Katsina Youth Craft Village (KYCV), alongside establishing collaboration with Autogig International Resources Ltd., Lagos.

The specialized training, which commenced yesterday and will run until November 3, is designed to upgrade the technical competence, innovation mindset, and hands-on skills of KYCV mechanics in line with global automotive standards.

The programme focuses on modern vehicle systems, advanced diagnostics, electric and hybrid technologies, IoT-enabled diagnostics, CNG kit installation, and workshop management. It combines rigorous classroom learning with hands-on sessions, giving participants practical exposure to emerging automotive technologies.

Speaking on the initiative, the Coordinator of the Katsina Youth Craft Village, Engr. Kabir Abdullahi, described the Governor’s approval as a visionary and transformative gesture that reflects the administration’s deep belief in the power of technical education to transform lives and communities.

He said, “What His Excellency has done is more than just approving training; it is an investment in the future of Katsina’s young people. This programme will open doors for our mechanics to learn the most modern automotive techniques that align with global best practices. They will be exposed to innovations reshaping the vehicle industry, including hybrid systems, digital diagnostics, and alternative energy technologies. This kind of practical training is what turns ordinary craftsmen into master technicians.”

He further explained that the Central Mechanical Workshop is being repositioned to serve as a centre of excellence for automotive innovation and training, where young mechanics can continually upgrade their knowledge and become self-reliant professionals contributing to the state’s industrial development.

“We are grateful to Governor Radda for his foresight and his continuous investment in the Katsina Youth Craft Village. He is not just providing opportunities; he is building capacity, restoring dignity to technical labour, and giving our youths a platform to dream beyond the ordinary. This is how societies grow, through knowledge, skill, and vision,” the Coordinator added.

A major highlight of the initiative is the discussion between Autogig International and the Katsina Youth Craft Village, aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and ensuring sustainable technical development. The discussions which will lead to signing an MoU, covers key areas such as authentic and affordable spare parts supply, joint technical research, staff training, and industry linkages with major automotive manufacturers.

This partnership will help reposition the Katsina Youth Craft Village as a trusted, government-backed hub for modern vehicle repair, diagnostics, and innovation in Northern Nigeria.

Facilitated by top industry experts, the training exposes participants to the latest innovations in electric and hybrid vehicle systems, digital fault detection, and clean energy conversion. It also emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and workshop management, skills essential for building professional discipline and sustainable workshop operations.

The Youth Craft Village Transformation Programme, under which this initiative falls, remains one of the flagship interventions of the Katsina State Government’s Building Your Future agenda. Its objective is to nurture a generation of skilled, self-reliant, and entrepreneurial youths equipped with the technical knowledge to drive industrial and technological advancement across the state.

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has restated his administration’s strong commitment to partnerships that improve the lives of citizens, especially women, children, youth, and vulnerable groups.

The Governor said this during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Katsina State Government and Qatar Charity Nigeria. The agreement opens a new chapter of cooperation in humanitarian and social development across the state.

Governor Radda described the MoU as the formalization of an existing partnership that has already made a difference through empowerment, healthcare, and education.

“We truly appreciate your continued support,” the Governor said. “Your assistance has helped improve the lives of our people. You were here recently to distribute empowerment kits, and those items have brought real relief to many families across the state.”

He explained that the MoU gives structure to a long-standing relationship between both parties. “This signing creates shared responsibilities. As a government, we will fully meet our commitments and ensure the sustainability of all Qatar Charity projects in Katsina,” he added.

The Governor praised Qatar Charity for its generosity and long-term partnership. “Even before this formal signing, Qatar Charity has done a lot for Katsina State. We remain deeply grateful for your continued interventions,” he said.

Radda also appealed for further support in education. “We would like to see in Katsina the same multi-purpose educational projects you have built in other states. Our people deserve such impactful initiatives, and you can always count on us as a reliable partner,” he stated.

He assured that his government will implement the agreement with transparency and accountability, noting that it aligns with his Building Your Future development agenda, which focuses on human capital development.

“Our goal is to strengthen the institutions that directly touch people’s lives such as schools, hospitals, and empowerment centres. Partnerships like this help us reach those goals faster,” the Governor added.

In his remarks, the Qatar Charity Country Director to Nigeria, Mr. Assem Abu Al Shaer, reaffirmed the organization’s support for Governor Radda’s vision through practical projects that impact communities directly.

Mr. Al Shaer commended the Governor’s people-focused leadership and transparency, noting that such values attract credible international partners to the state.

As part of the new MoU, Qatar Charity announced the donation of more medical equipment to improve healthcare delivery. Under this commitment, all newly renovated Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) will receive Electronic Blood Pressure Machines, while 15 General Hospitals will be supplied with Electric Wheelchairs to support physically challenged patients.

Mr. Al Shaer explained that the donation aligns with Qatar Charity’s global mission to strengthen health systems and improve access for vulnerable groups. He also pledged continued partnership with the Katsina State Government in health, education, and empowerment initiatives.

The MoU clearly defines the roles of both parties. Qatar Charity, an international NGO registered under Nigerian law, is the First Party, while the Katsina State Government is the Second Party, committed to policies that improve citizens’ welfare.

The agreement covers key intervention areas including education through school construction, scholarships, and materials; healthcare through medical outreaches, surgeries, and facility upgrades; social housing; empowerment programmes with sewing machines, motorcycles, and farm tools; as well as water supply, food security, and relief support.

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser on Girl-Child Education, Hon. Jamila Abdu Mani, who facilitated the MoU through her office, expressed optimism about its impact.

“This collaboration will open new doors of opportunity for our women and girls,” she said. “We are proud to have facilitated this partnership and look forward to the positive results it will bring to education, healthcare, and social welfare.”

The partnership builds on Governor Radda’s ongoing reforms in the health sector. His administration has been renovating and equipping hospitals and PHCs, and recruiting health workers to improve service delivery, especially in rural areas.

With the latest intervention from Qatar Charity, access to healthcare at both primary and secondary levels is expected to improve significantly, particularly in underserved communities.

Governor Radda’s administration continues to earn the trust of credible international organizations through transparency and a people-centred approach. The new partnership adds to the growing list of collaborations driving progress in education, healthcare, and social development in Katsina State.

Governor Radda Approves ₦677.6 Million for 2024/2025 Bursary, Academic Excellence and Special Needs Scholarships

* Reaffirms commitment to educational empowerment, inclusiveness, and global academic excellence

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has approved the release of ₦677,572,815 for the payment of bursary allowances, academic excellence awards, and special needs scholarships to Katsina students studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The approval underscores Governor Radda firm belief in education as a catalyst for empowerment, growth, and social inclusion, in line with his Building Your Future Agenda which places human capital development at the heart of governance.

Out of the total approved amount, ₦283,521,639 will be disbursed as bursary allowances to newly admitted Katsina students in tertiary institutions across the country. Another ₦15 million has been earmarked for the Katsina State Government Award of Academic Excellence, which recognizes graduates with First-Class Honours in their respective disciplines. In addition, ₦7 million has been set aside for the Annual Special Scholarship Programme aimed at supporting students with special needs.

This latest approval follows the earlier release of ₦372,051,176 in September 2024 for continuing students, bringing the total disbursement for the 2024/2025 academic session to ₦677,572,815.

Since assuming office, Governor Radda has consistently prioritized education through massive investments in scholarship and bursary programmes. Previous disbursements include ₦637,924,516 (for 47,935 students, 2020/2021 fresh and 2021/2022 continuing), ₦544,207,748 (for 37,802 students, 2021/2022 fresh and 2022/2023 continuing), ₦744,102,352 (for 50,438 students, 2022/2023 fresh and 2023/2024 continuing), and ₦372,051,176 for 2024/2025 continuing students.

With this latest round, Katsina State’s total investment in student support has now reached ₦2.6 billion, directly benefiting tens of thousands of students and reaffirming the State’s leadership in promoting educational advancement in Northern Nigeria.

The Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Scholarship Board, Dr. Aminu Salisu Tsauri, described the Governor’s approval as a landmark decision that reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to human capital development.

“His Excellency has once again demonstrated that he sees education not as an expense but as a long-term investment in the future of Katsina State,” Dr. Tsauri said. “This gesture brings renewed hope to thousands of students, especially those from low-income families, who depend on government support to achieve their academic dreams. The Governor’s vision continues to inspire excellence, inclusion, and opportunity.”

Dr. Tsauri expressed deep appreciation to Governor Radda for making education a central pillar of his leadership, emphasizing that “this is not just about figures, but about vision and purpose. The Governor has shown that young people remain at the heart of Katsina’s transformation. He has given them a reason to believe that hard work and merit will always be rewarded.”

He also commended the Governing Members of the Scholarship Board for their transparency and professionalism, assuring that every kobo of the approved funds will be judiciously utilized for the benefit of deserving students.

According to him, award letters will be distributed to beneficiaries in their respective institutions beginning Tuesday, 28th October 2025, while newly admitted Katsina students currently in the Nigerian Law School are expected to report to the Scholarship Board Headquarters between Monday, 27th and Thursday, 30th October 2025 for documentation and further processing.

Beyond local bursaries, the Radda administration has expanded its educational vision globally. Dozens of Katsina students from all 34 local government areas are currently studying under the State’s foreign scholarship programme in specialized fields such as Artificial Intelligence at Xi’an Shiyou University, China; Bioengineering at Xuzhou University of Technology, China; and Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at Nahda University, Beni Suef, Egypt.

These international programmes reflect Governor Radda’s determination to position Katsina youth as global citizens. equipped with modern knowledge and skills to drive innovation, healthcare advancement, and economic growth both at home and abroad.

Through these continuous interventions, the Radda administration is laying a strong foundation for educational excellence. ensuring that every Katsina child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive, regardless of background or circumstance.

Group Partners Katsina Women Journalists to Combat Violence Extremism

 

The Partnership Against Violent Extremism Network, Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism Knowledge, Innovation, and Resource Hub, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser and KIRH partners, has sought the partnership of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Katsina State chapter, in the fight against violent extremism.

Chairman of the group, Dr. Bashir Ruwangodiya, while on an advocacy visit to NAWOJ at the Nigeria Union of Journalists secretariat on Tuesday, said, we are currently undertaking a crucial initiative to provide technical support for the domestication of the National PCVE Framework within Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, and Sokoto States.

Highlighting the background of the PAVE, Ruwangodiya noted that the group registered as an Incorporated Trustee with the Corporate Affairs Commission as Association against Violent Extremism CAC/IT/NO 119408 in October 2018.

From inception to date, we have worked closely with the National Counter Terrorism Centre under the Office of the National Security Advisor.

This process involves working closely with state-level stakeholders to co-create State Action Plans and Local Action Plans that are aligned with the national framework. 

Through this advocacy visit, we believe that your support will significantly strengthen our efforts and foster a collaborative environment conducive to the successful implementation of effective PCVE strategies within Katsina State in line with the National Action Plan.

We request partnership with you, having monitored your activities over time. We carefully selected your association to work with.

We canvass for your support because you are stakeholders in the peace process, especially social justice. Most of the victims of banditry or whatever form are women and children, while youths are in between, which can be used as perpetrators of conflicts and also be used as tools in social justice as well.

Having been a media association, we know you will amplify your voices in creating awareness of the negative impacts of conflicts. We are here to canvass for your support to support our course towards ensuring the minimisation of extremism in society.

On her part, the Katsina State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Hannatu Mohammed, expressed gratitude to the group for selecting the association to partner with. "We are glad that you carefully selected our association to partner with.

This is not out of place considering that we, women journalists in Katsina State, have been on our toes to ensure justice for any marginalised individual because we want to have a better and conflict-free society.

As you rightly said, whenever there is conflict, women and children are mostly affected. Having listened to your activities, NAWOJ will work closely with you to ensure we reduce conflicts of whatever kind in Katsina," Mohammed said.

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda personally led a top-level security delegation to Maharba village in Matazu Local Government Area to conduct an on-the-spot assessment following a tragic bandit ambush that claimed lives of five Community Security Watch Corps personnel.

The Governor's delegation, which included State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs Dr. Nasiru Muazu Danmusa, the State Commissioner of Police, Director of State Security Services, Chief of Staff Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, and other security personnel, was led to the incident scene by Matazu Local Government Chairman Alhaji Shamsudeen Muhammad Sayaya.

The attack claimed the life of Community Watch Commander Mallam Sanusi, who coordinated security operations covering Kusada, Kankia, and parts of Charanci Local Government Areas, along with four of his men who were traveling in a Hilux vehicle on a reinforcement mission.

According to reports, the security team had responded to intelligence about a large number of bandits approaching villages in Matazu Local Government when they were ambushed at a major stream by approximately twenty bandits on motorcycles who had concealed themselves in mango trees.

The Commander and his team were trapped at the location, with their Hilux vehicle set ablaze during the attack. The vehicle was still smoldering when the Governor arrived at the scene for his assessment.

Following the site inspection, Governor Radda toured hard-to-reach areas to gain firsthand knowledge of community conditions and engaged directly with residents about his administration's mission and government readiness to address security challenges.

The Governor also reaffirmed the administration commitment to work closely with security agencies and community stakeholders to enhance protective measures for both security personnel and civilian populations across Katsina State.

Providing insight into the Governor's visit, State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs Dr. Nasiru Muazu Danmusa explained the comprehensive approach being adopted to combat insecurity.

"The state had in the recent time witnessed incessant banditry attacks on one hand and on the other hand recording success in the fight against bandits taking into cognizance of the efforts of the military against bandits around Ruwan Godiya access," Dr. Danmusa stated.

The Commissioner emphasized that "the visit of the state governor to the scene where the five men of the community security watch corps were ambushed and killed by the bandits was to see for himself and for the ministry to evaluate and make assessment of what happened."

The Commissioner stressed that this assessment "was to adopt further strategies to protect the lives and property of members of the communities."

Dr. Danmusa appealed to people in the state to support government with prayers and exercise patience as government is more committed in restoring peace in the state. 

On behalf of the Government, and the good people of Katsina, Governor Radda expressed condolences to the family of deceased C-Watch personnel, praying that God Almighty will accept their returns and grant the family and the State the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

Katsina NAWOJ Pays Courtesy Visit to CP Bello Shehu, Advocate Collaborative Efforts Against Gender-Based Violence

 

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Katsina State Chapter had on Thursday visited the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, psc, fdc, MNIM, at the command headquarters, Katsina. 

This visit underscores the association's commitment to fostering a strong partnership between journalists especially women and law enforcement in promoting ethical journalism as well as addressing societal issues.

During the visit, the chapter Chairperson of NAWOJ, Hannatu Mohammed expressed gratitude to CP Bello Shehu for his warm reception. She acknowledged the existing cordial relationship between the police and journalists in Katsina State while emphasising the need for deeper collaboration to enhance news reportage and public engagement.

Hannatu urged for urgent need for the Command’s intervention in addressing gender-based violence and other challenges faced by women in the community. 

She sought the Commissioner’s support in creating a safer environment for women and improving the overall effectiveness of the association.

The Katsina NAWOJ Chairperson noted “your achievements within this few times you have been posted to head the Police command has also informed our decision to encourage you and your team to do more while we will insha Allah give you maximum support to succeed”.

Responding, the Katsina State CP Bello Shehu, expressed appreciation for the visit and commended NAWOJ for its dedication to promoting ethical journalism. 

CP Shehu therefore reaffirmed the Katsina State Police Command's commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with journalists and encouraged them to verify sensitive information with the Command before publication and assured the Command's readiness to respond promptly to media inquiries, highlighting the importance of creating a supportive environment for journalists in the State to thrives.

Addressing the concerns raised by Hannatu Mohammed, CP Bello Shehu emphasised that the Command is actively taking proactive measures to tackle issues related to gender-based violence and other challenges affecting women and their association.

Governor Radda Advocates Unified Salary Structure for Medical Doctors

atsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has proposed a unified salary structure for medical doctors across Nigeria to mitigate the migration of healthcare professionals from state to federal health institutions.

The Governor made this call while hosting a high-powered delegation of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA)on 29th April 2025, led by its President, Professor Bala Muhammad Audu, at Government House, Katsina.

We need a unified salary structure for medical doctors in the country to reduce their movement to federal health institutions for higher salaries," Governor Radda stated.

The Governor urged medical practitioners to prioritize service over financial benefits, "Doctors should not look at the money but their services required to save humanity."

Pointing to his administration's commitment to healthcare development, Governor Radda explained the strategic purpose behind several initiatives, "Our foreign scholarship program targeted at qualified state indigenes who graduated from public schools was to allow access and opportunities to children from less privileged families to pursue medical courses."

Governor Radda also revealed the state government is equally establishing special schools, one each at the three senatorial zones, to also ensure access to quality education among the children of the poor.

Government's commitment in establishing the dialysis center and the imaging center, both at General Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital, were intended to support patients with various ailments to have access to affordable medical attention," the Governor disclosed. 

Governor Radda further directed the state branch chairman of the NMA to formally document the requests presented by the national president for government consideration.

Professor Bala Muhammad Audu, NMA President, expressed appreciation for the Governor's giant strides in repositioning the health sector of the state.  

We are particularly happy with the effort in establishing dialysis and imaging centers for the benefit of patients in the state and other parts of the country," Professor Audu stated.

We also recognize the foresight of the state governor in upgrading up to seven comprehensive health centers to the status of general hospitals, with the intention to ensure the establishment of fully equipped health facilities at all the 361 electoral wards of the state," said NMA President. 

While commending the Governor for payment of residency training allowances, Professor Audu requested an upward review of the stipends.

The NMA President expressed gratitude for land allocated to the association under the Federal Mortgage Bank scheme but requested additional infrastructure support. 

Professor Audu also requested additional land allocation, stating, "We need more land as the association has an arrangement with the Federal Mortgage Bank to provide housing for medical doctors."

On the importance of local medica the NMA President urged the state administration to ensure full accreditation for the medical school at Umaru Musa Yar'adua University. Stating, "This would reduce the burden on the state government in sending medical students for overseas training."

Professor Audu concluded by extending condolences to the Governor over the recent loss of his mother, Hajiya Safara'u, praying for Allah's mercy and reward of Aljanna Firdausi.

Salisu Hamza Rimaye, Shugaban Kwamitin Gudanarwa, ya gabatar da rahoton kwamitinsu kan kudirin doka da zai tanadi wa'adin shugabannin hukumomi (Parastatals) a cikin jihar. Wannan kudiri na da nufin tabbatar da sahihanci da inganci a tsarin shugabanci da gudanar da ayyuka a hukumomin gwamnati.

Haka kuma, Hon. Lawal Abdu Ibrahim, Shugaban Kwamitin Shari'a, Alkalai da Hakkin Dan Adam, ya gabatar da rahoton kwamitinsu kan kudirin sauya dokar Gudanar da Shari’ar Laifuka ta Jihar Katsina, 2021. Kudirin yana da nufin inganta tsarin shari’a domin tabbatar da adalci da kare hakkin dan Adam a fadin jihar.

Yadda Taron Manema Labarai Ya Gudana a Gidan Gwamnatin Jihar Katsina Kan Ziyarar Shugaban Ƙasa Bola Ahmed Tinubu da Za a Yi a Ranar 2 ga Mayu, 2025

n gudanar da taron manema labarai a fadar Gidan Gwamnatin Jihar Katsina a ranar Laraba, 30 ga Afrilu, 2025, karkashin jagorancin Kwamishinan Yaɗa Labarai na Jihar Katsina, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango. Taron ya mayar da hankali kan bayani dalla-dalla game da ziyarar da Shugaban Ƙasa Bola Ahmed Tinubu zai kai jihar Katsina a ranar Juma’a, 2 ga Mayu, 2025.

Taron ya samu halartar manyan jami’an gwamnati da suka haɗa da Darakta Janar na Yaɗa Labarai, Shugaban Ƙungiyar Ma’aikatan Aikin Jarida (NUJ) na jihar, da sauran masu ruwa da tsaki a fannin watsa labarai.

A yayin taron, Kwamishinan Yaɗa Labarai ya bayyana cewa ziyarar shugaban ƙasa na da nufin duba manyan ayyukan ci gaba da Gwamnatin Malam Dikko Umar Radda ta aiwatar cikin shekaru biyu da suka gabata. Cikin ayyukan da za a ziyarta akwai: gina hanyoyi, inganta fannin kiwon lafiya, habaka ilimi, noma da kiwo, da kuma shirye-shiryen tallafawa masu ƙaramin ƙarfi da raya garuruwa.

Kwamishinan ya ƙara da cewa, shugaban ƙasar zai ƙaddamar da wasu daga cikin muhimman ayyukan gwamnati yayin ziyarar tasa, wanda ke nuna haɗin kai da goyon baya ga cigaban jihar Katsina.

The executive Director Katsina state pilgrims welfare Board has said that the airlift of the state Intending pilgrims will commenced on 19 May 2025.

 HAJJ 2025:

lhaji Yunusa Abdullahi Dankama Disclosed this while Launching the distribution of Hand Bags and Uniforms to the Intending pilgrims.

The  Distributions  marked the  simultaneous commencement of the exercise across zonal offices in the state. 

Others who spoke at the Distribution ceremony are the representative of the chairman of the board represented by Alhaji Usman Umar expressed cetisfaction with the Quality of the facilities.

In his remarks Another board member Alhaji Abdullahi urged the pilgrims to always wear their uniforms while in the holy land.

In Another Development the executive Director of the Board Alh Yunusa Abdullahi Dankama also inspected the ongoing pilgrims orientation training exercise in Dutsinma,  Kankia and Mani zonal pilgrims offices respectively.

 In all the zones visited Alh Yunusa Dankama revealed that the Board has concluded all arrangements regards to 2025 Hajj exercise.

He said the board and the state government already secured accommodation,feeding and transportation. 

The Executive Director advised the Intending pilgrims to ensure that they abide by the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the Hajj exercises as well as to be good Ambassadors of the state and the country during their stay in the Holy land.

He also admonished the Intending pilgrims to always concentrate on free Hajj training exercises to achieve Hajj Mabrur.
